Oh how fast things can change. A week ago, the Yankees were riding high on a resurgent pitching staff and a still-struggling but timely offense. Well, the timing is off for the bats again and the pitching staff has suffered a major blow, and suddenly the Yankees are in a tailspin again. Series losses to the Blue Jays and Tigers have stalled out their climb to the top of the AL East, and they’ll enter June still chasing the top spot.
A lot has gone wrong for New York this season, and yet we’ve seen two versions of this team: one that can power through the adversity a la the 2019 team, and one that sleepwalks through it. What’s driving the difference? What will it take for the people in the lineup that are slumping to turn their season around? If you’ve got questions like these, or any other concerns, send them in for a chance to be featured in our Yankees mailbag.
Answers will run on Friday morning. All questions received by the night of June 3rd will be considered. You can leave your submissions in the comment section below or by e-mail to pinstripealleyblog [at] gmail [dot] com.
