As May is winding down, I think we can all agree that the script has been flipped on the narrative surrounding the Yankees from April. The team is rolling, winning six straight games while consistently winning series overall as well. The pitching has stepped it up big time, the offense is getting timely hits, and the bullpen is still the best in the league. All of this has propelled the Yankees back up in the standings, sitting just a game out of first place with the similarly-surging Rays and the early leader Red Sox within arm’s reach.
A lot has turned around for the team to get to this point. Now, it becomes a question of what was regression to the mean, and what was perhaps the pendulum swinging from underperformance to overperformance. Is the rotation’s stellar run of quality starts going to keep on going? How sustainable will the recent run of winning one- and two-run games be? If you’ve got questions like these, or any other concern on your mind, send it in to us for a chance to be featured in our Yankees mailbag.
Answers will run on Friday morning. All questions received by the night of May 27th will be considered. You can leave your submissions in the comment section below or by e-mail to pinstripealleyblog [at] gmail [dot] com.
