Since baseball shut down in March of last year, we have kept you posted on what the Yankees have been up to on social media. Although baseball is gradually getting back to normal, it’s still fun to check in our favorite players and Yankee figures, so we will continue to do so throughout 2021. Here’s your weekly update on what your favorite Yankees have been doing on social media!
Kyle Higashioka, part-time catcher, part-time surfer and guitar player
Higgy has seen an increase in playing time within the last week or so. While he’s showed he can contribute to the team, he’s also a man of many talents. From baseball, to riding waves, to playing the guitar, there’s not much Higashioka can’t do. He even learned to speak some Japanese to communicate with former Yankees pitcher Masahiro Tanaka.
Awesome video! You guys made me look way cooler than I am https://t.co/Njnbs1nQ3e

Tanaka is happy, which means we’re happy
Speaking of Tanaka, he’s living his best life in Japan as a member of the Rakuten Golden Eagles. He’s pitched very well for them after returning from his leg injury. Tanaka has thrown 17 innings with 15 strikeouts and an ERA of 2.12.
Deivi’s first start of the season
The 21-year-old García made his first start of the 2021 season this past week in Baltimore. He tossed four innings, allowing two runs on three hits. García will continue to see some action as the season progresses, though he’ll be in Scranton for the time being.
Gleyber and Odor hug it out after a W
That’s unfortunately not the No. 18 we were used to seeing patrol the middle infield. Rather than our old pal Didi Gregorius, it’s now Rougned Odor. The Venezuela natives have clicked at second and shortstop in the 17 games Odor has played in pinstripes. Odor has been a pleasant surprise for the Yankees as Rougie has come through in big spots multiple times already within the month of April.
