Today on Pinstripe Alley - 5/2/21

The Yankees go for a sweep of the Tigers before taking off on Monday.

Another day on this weekend and another good win for the Yankees against the Tigers. Jameson Taillon pitched well, the offense put it together in the middle innings, and now, the team is just a game shy of .500. A win today against José Ureña will finally bring them back to even entering an off-day tomorrow. If not, well, that’s a problem I’d rather not worry about.

On the site today, Erica will explore the Yankees’ occasionally odd hesitance to use replay challenges, and Josh will look into the smashing early returns on Giancarlo Stanton’s new role at No. 2 in the batting order. Later, Peter will preview veteran catcher Robinson Chirinos’s 2021 to see what he could offer as the Yankees’ third-stringer, and Andrés will explain why the Yankees are poised for a breakout in the month of May. After the matinee, Joe will have the weekly social media roundup.

Fun Questions:

1. Which Yankees player will become their Player of the Month in May?

2. It’s not just the Yankees — offenses around the league were anemic in April, batting .232/.309/.389. How concerned are you about the league-wide dip in production?
