New York Yankees @ Texas Rangers: Gerrit Cole vs. Jordan Lyles

It ended on a sour note, but the Yankees’ weekend series against the Orioles continued a winning run for the team. They have now not lost a series since the April 16-18th set against the Rays. Over that stretch, they’ve gone 17-8.

Next up is a trip to Arlington for the Yankees’ first ever series at Globe Life Field. In a weird note thanks to a weird 2020, this will also be the Yankees’ first regular season series outside the eastern time zone since the season-ending set of 2019, which was also against the Rangers.

To try and get this four-game series off to a good start, the Yankees will send Gerrit Cole to the mound. The Yankees’ ace has been on fire recently, and is coming off maybe his best start of the season, where he allowed no runs and struck out 12 in eight innings against the Rays.

The lineup is a shorthanded, as the Yankees added Giancarlo Stanton to the IL earlier today. However, it still features Aaron Judge, who was named AL Player of the Week after his exploits over the last two series.

The Rangers are giving the ball to Jordan Lyles, who comes into this game with a 6.63 ERA and a 5.58 FIP.

Go Yankees, go baseball.
