Things are a little calmer across the Yankees fandom today, thanks to a classic beatdown of the Baltimore Orioles in the Bronx. The game featured just about everything you could hope for if you cheer for the team in the pinstripes: Judge and Stanton dingers, a strong outing from Jordan Montgomery, plus quick and effective trips to the bullpen including Aroldis Chapman’s season debut. If you didn’t get a chance to read about it yesterday, check out this recap.
The series is still young, and the Orioles will be back for more later tonight. Until then, hold yourself over with some articles from our staff. Tom leads off with a look at how the pitching staff had an abnormally excellent start, and what can be gleaned from that. Josh dives specifically into the long reliever pool that the Yankees have on hand, and the importance they’ll have while the team sets up their rotation. Dan provides a prospect preview on Oswaldo Cabrera, and Cooper examines Gary Sánchez’s hot start — plus the underlying concerns with it. Finally, Kyle updates us with the latest FanPulse centered on the Yankees’ odds in the AL East, MVP, and Cy Young races.
