After dropping the first game of this three-game set in Baltimore, the Yankees bounced back last night with a resounding victory. Dingers, solid pitching, and excellent baserun... dingers and solid pitching led to a 5-1 Yankees win. Now, Domingo Germán looks to build on his strong outing last time and deliver the Bronx Bombers a series advantage.
Baltimore counters with RHP Dean Kremer who this season has pitched to a 6.75 ERA and 1.875 WHIP in 10.2 innings through three starts. On April 6th against the Yankees, Kremer gave up three runs over three innings, including a solo homer to the since-retired Jay Bruce. More of that Dean Kremer, please. The 2020 version allowed 2 runs over 11 frames against the Bombers and struck out 14.
Can DJ LeMahieu, Giancarlo Stanton, and Kyle Higashioka build on their multi-hit games from last night and keep the offense’s engine revving? Even Gleyber Torres got into the action last night with a rare extra-base hit. After a horrendous April offensively thus far, now would be a great time for the bats to build momentum as the weather heats up.
Let’s go Yankees. Time to string together some winning streaks and put a mediocre start to the season in the rearview window.
