Pinstripe Alley Podcast Ep. 124: Beware the 3-0 Lead

Since our last recording, the Yankees have been bad, good, and then bad again. Love baseball!

We wanted this podcast to be an enjoyable one. We really did. We thought that it would be all pleasant after the series victory in Cleveland! And don’t worry, we still talked about those awesome 3-0 rallies and Gerrit Cole outdueling Shane Bieber again. We were determined to some positives! Gio Urshela, Kyle Higashioka, and some dingers helped out there.

The problem was that we had to record the day after an especially dispiriting loss to 2021 Matt Harvey and the Orioles, which was the team’s second defeat in a row and a return to the previous week’s offensive doldrums. The fact that it came on the heels of Sunday’s Jameson Taillon-led loss didn’t help either.

Other topics of note included the best use of the Gary Sánchez/Kyle Higashioka conundrum, the Deivi García/Michael King swingman shuttle role, the overblown Aaron Judge/Angels rumors, and more Yankees nonsense. Note that this was recorded prior to the news of Higashioka’s bump in playing time, and the Mike Tauchman trade, though I did a short bit on the latter at the top of the episode.
