Sunday afternoon was a bit of a bummer, there’s no doubt about that. Anytime you build a three-run lead on the road — especially after winning the first three games of a series against a competitive opponent — you want to step on the throat and finish that sweep. However, Cleveland already demonstrated on Thursday and Friday that 3-0 leads can vanish in a hurry. Those games went in the Yankees’ favor, but Sunday was Cleveland’s turn to flip the script.
So it goes. The Yankees still won three out of four in perhaps their best series of 2021. Take the positives. They’ll look to build on that in Baltimore tonight behind Deivi García.
On the site, Peter will preview that upcoming four-game set against the Orioles, and Dan will look ahead to the 2021 season of pitching prospect Alexander Vizcaino. The A’s recent 13-game winning streak motivated me to make a post on the longest such streaks in Yankees history, and Ryan will wrap up our pregame programming by asking for your latest mailbag questions.
