Pinstripe Alley Podcast Ep. 123: Please Refrain From Being Garbage

Bemoaning the Yankees’ woes in their worst start to a season since 1997.

MLB: Tampa Bay Rays at New York Yankees Brad Penner-USA TODAY Sports

There’s no easy to say this: We’ve had dentist appointments more enjoyable than the past week of Yankees baseball. The team is winless since our last recording, having dropped five in a row while suffering an embarrassing home sweep at the hands of the Rays.

Kunj and I gradually ran through everything going wrong with the team, from the offense (in a nightmarish slump) to the pitching staff (lackluster outside of Gerrit Cole and a couple relievers) and defense (dismal fundamentals and poor play). As we noted, a portion of the Yankees’ struggles will likely remedy themselves soon, but some are flawed by design. That’s concerning.

We also discussed the unfortunate Friday incident where fans threw balls onto the field and Jay Bruce’s unceremonious-but-necessary retirement. We’ll always remember you, Jay. (Until we won’t.)
