Today on Pinstripe Alley - 4/19/21

A much-needed day off after a nightmare week for the Yankees.

The New York Yankees are 5-10, their worst start since 1997 and a record worse than every team in baseball aside from the directionless Rockies. The old manager is long gone, but his sage wisdom still applies: “It’s not what you want.”

The Bombers will have an off-day to lick their wounds and hopefully enter Tuesday night’s contest not looking like complete garbage. One can hope, right?

Today on the site, I’ll have a new FanPost Friday prompt, Jon will provide a prospect season preview post on 20-year-old outfielder Everson Pereira (last seen with Staten Island in the New York-Penn League in 2019), and Tom will preview the Yankees’ upcoming two-game set against the Braves. Later on, Kevin will provide a fascinating off-day history lesson on Richard Nixon’s somewhat-surprising role in the intersection of baseball and politics, and Ryan will ask for your latest mailbag questions.

Today’s Matchup:

Off-day

Fun Questions:

1. Aside from the Yankees, which team’s start to the season has been most disappointing?

2. What is something pleasant that you did with your Sunday after the Yankees’ debacle?
