Welcome to SB Nation Reacts, a survey of fans across MLB. Each week, we send out questions to the most plugged-in New York Yankees fans, and fans across the country. Sign up here to join Reacts.

According to the latest SB Nation Reacts survey, 73 percent of Yankees fans are confident the team is headed in the right direction. Although a good figure, it is down from 76 percent to start the season.

A part of that assuredness comes from feelings about the team’s ability to score. Despite some inconsistency from the team early on, Yankees fans are most confident in the New York offense.

The Yankees’ 4-5 start may have come as something of a surprise to some fans around the league. But it wasn’t the biggest stunner. According to fans around Major League Baseball, 28-year-old Chicago White Sox rookie Yermín Mercedes’s red-hot start at the plate is the most shocking outcome of the season’s first week.*

After knocking eight hits in his first eight at-bats, Mercedes earned 42 percent of the vote, beating out the slow start by Atlanta which took 23 percent, the Baltimore Oriole’s hot start took 18 percent while Los Angeles Angels star Shohei Ohtani’s two-way success took 9 percent.

*Note that this survey was answered prior to this past weekend, so the Braves’ recent four-game winning streak and the Orioles’ sweep at the hands of the Red Sox did not factor into the votes.
