Today on Pinstripe Alley - 4/11/21

The Yankees wrap up their first series at the Trop, and not a moment too soon.

At this point, the Yankees must be begging to escape the doldrums of Tropicana Field, where they apparently just can’t win baseball games anymore. In their last 10 games at the Trop, they’re 1-9, and the only win was a seven-inning contest. Inspiring. How I long for the days of Doug Waechter and Travis Harper...

Hopefully the Yankees can turn it around today behind Jordan Montgomery, fresh off a dominant outing against Baltimore. Meanwhile, on the site, Andrés will explain why we shouldn’t worry too much about Gio Urshela’s slow start, Peter will take a closer look at the importance of context when citing certain statistics, and Erica will preview the season of young catching prospect Antonio Gomez. Later, John will research whether velocity is actually important to a pitcher like Corey Kluber, and Joe will provide the weekly social media roundup.

Today’s Matchup:

New York Yankees vs. Tampa Bay Rays

Time: 1:10 p.m. EST

TV: YES Network, Bally Sports Sun, MLB Network (out-of-market)

Radio: WFAN 660/101.9 FM, WADO 1280

Venue: Tropicana Field

Fun Questions:

1. What’s your least-favorite ballpark in the majors, non-Trop division?

2. Would you rather see the Yankees drop Jay Bruce from the roster and play DJ LeMahieu at first base, or should they hold onto Bruce for a bit longer?
