Earlier today, MLB Pipeline released its top-30 Yankees prospects list. Leading the way, unsurprisingly, is outfielder Jasson Dominguez, whose enormous talents need no introduction at this point. Dominguez ranks 32nd on MLB’s top-100, with the huge error bars around the teenager’s future play keeping from truly elite prospect status.
Interestingly, MLB puts Deivi García third on their Yankee list, outside of their top-100, and behind Clarke Schmidt, who ranked 88th overall. This marks a bit of a split with public consensus, which generally has García among the better pitching prospects the game. For example, Baseball America ranked García 55th, while Baseball Prospectus had him all the way up in the their top 17.
Other points of interest: MLB puts Luis Gil ahead of Luis Medina, ranks 2020 first-round pick Austin Wells sixth, and still has Estevan Florial in the top-ten. Take a look at the full list of 30, and let us know in the comments if anything jumps out at you.
