This Tuesday hasn’t exactly gotten off to a great start. Our mornings were marred by the news that Zack Britton had been sent to receive an MRI on his suddenly balky left elbow. The ace reliever’s status is now up in the air with Opening Day just weeks away.
In any case, there’s baseball coming down the pipe to get your mind off the return of the Yankees’ injury woes. Will you be able to watch the game, this matinee between the Yankees and Tigers? Of course not! We’ll have to deal with another TV-less spring training game, though we at least can take comfort in the fact that the next four Yankee games will be televised. The Tigers radio team (WXYT) will be on the call if you can get a line on the feed.
On the mound today is Deivi García. As Marly Rivera pointed out, Garcia was four-years-old when Miguel Cabrera debuted in the majors in 2003. The Tigers counter with right-hander Spencer Turnbull.
The Yankees will send out a pretty strong lineup to oppose Turnbull. Giancarlo Stanton, Luke Voit, and Brett Gardner get the day off, but the top of the card is populated by DJ LeMahieu, Aaron Judge, Aaron Hicks, and Gleyber Torres. Towards the bottom, Jay Bruce and Mike Tauchman get starts, as each continues to make his case for a spot on the roster.
Location: Publix Field at Joker Marchant Stadium, Lakeland, FL
First pitch: 1:05 p.m. EDT
Radio broadcast: WXYT
