Editor’s note: Sorry to all who wished to chime in on the game today that the commenting function was down this afternoon. SBN is working on it.
With a 3-1 record in the still-young spring training, the New York Yankees will face the Philadelphia Phillies at BayCare Ballpark in Clearwater, FL. First pitch is scheduled for 1:05 p.m. EDT.
Right-hander Deivi García, who impressed over a short cameo last season with the big team, is set to make his spring debut against veteran left-hander Matt Moore.
Thursday’s game will mark the return of third baseman Gio Urshela, who went under the knife in December to remove bone spurs from his right elbow. At one point, his presence in spring training games was in question, but he put those doubts to rest and is now ready to roll.
Urshela is batting second and playing third base. According to what interim Yankees manager Carlos Mendoza told Marly Rivera of ESPN, he will have “a couple of at-bats today” and García will go “around two innings or 35 pitches.”
