One week from today, the Yankees begin their second game of the season. It’s enthralling!

Okay, okay, you’re probably more looking forward to Opening Day. That’s fair. I just wanted to mentally prepare you all for the fact that we’re going to have that one day off between the Yankees returning to action on Thursday and actually playing their second game. I understand that they do it to provide an immediate solution to Opening Day rainouts, but still — it will annoy me.

Anyway, the Yankees are facing the very same team from the upcoming opening series today. Before that, we have some good posts heading your way. Tom will provide the final edition of the Making the Team Meter to see who’s in the best shape to crack the Opening Day roster as spring training comes to a close, and Cooper will preview Luke Voit’s 2021. Next, Andrés will consider what Clint Frazier has to do to reach All-Star form, and Josh will examine the ramifications of the Yankees’ new streaming deal with Amazon.

Today’s Matchup:

New York Yankees vs. Toronto Blue Jays

Time: 1:05 p.m. EST

TV: YES, MLB Network, Sportsnet (MLB.tv)

Venue: George M. Steinbrenner Field

Fun Questions:

1. How many starts do you think Deivi García will make for the Yankees in 2021?

2. The Orioles’ Chris Davis landed on the 60-day injured list with a lower back strain to start the season. Do you think he ever plays in the majors again? Or will he disappear in a similar manner as Jacoby Ellsbury?
