The next six hours will be a busy period for the Yankees. Non-roster invitees Jay Bruce, Derek Dietrich, and Jhoulys Chacín can all opt out of their minor-league contracts. The Yankees have until midnight tonight to decide whether they will add any of that trio to the major league roster. But first, there’s a game to be played. Unfortunately there is no TV broadcast (mercifully the last time this will happen this spring), but you can listen in on the Orioles’ radio broadcast where available.
The Yankees roll out a top-heavy lineup to face the Orioles at GMS this evening, with presumable Opening Day starters DJ LeMahieu, Aaron Judge, Giancarlo Stanton, and Gary Sánchez occupying four of the first five batting order spots. Interestingly, Derek Dietrich was included in the original lineup posted by the Yankees, but was scratched for Chris Gittens in a revised version. Dietrich, like Jay Bruce, has an opt-out, which made it a bit intriguing that he was included in the original lineup. Was that a hint that the Yankees were considering adding him to the roster? Or perhaps he was open to an alternate site assignment? Either way, his removal from the lineup raises even more questions.
As for their opponents, right-hander Jorge López takes the mound for his sixth appearance of the spring. He got shelled in his last start against the Twins, surrendering three home runs in 3.2 innings, so look for the Yankees’ sluggers to do damage. Their lineup features probably their strongest nine hitters minus Anthony Santander, so it will be a good test for the Yankees’ ace.

At a time when starters are playing more often in spring training as the season is approaching, Anthony Santander is out of the Orioles' lineup tonight for a third straight game. It is unclear why. pic.twitter.com/myMtRQGF0h
