New York Yankees vs. Toronto Blue Jays: Deivi looks to keep pace

After the treat of getting to see the Yankees live on television yesterday, we’ll have to go back to the spring training basics. The team is traveling to Dunedin today to face off with the division-rival Blue Jays, and this action will be exclusive to radio listeners. At the very least, it’ll be the Yankees radio providing the coverage this time.

Deivi García gets the ball today, looking to make his case for the fifth starting gig in the rotation a little stronger. He was so-so in his first outing of spring, letting up two runs in two innings of work, but turned in a great performance last time out — he struck out five and kept the Tigers off the scoreboard over three innings. García and Domingo Germán have appeared to be the two strongest candidates so far, so we’ll see if García can keep in step today.

Alek Monoah will be the starter for Toronto, and he’ll face a lighter lineup from the Bombers as their road squad features only two regulars — Luke Voit and Clint Frazier made the trip and will bat second and fourth, respectively. Mike Tauchman and Jay Bruce will both get some at-bats in as the two compete for a spot as an additional outfielder on the bench, while Tyler Wade and Derek Dietrich get the same opportunity looking to be the backup infielder.
