Yankees make first cuts, including Adam Warren; Taillon and Bruce impress; Brett Gardner tries a new position; Alex Rodriguez and Jennifer Lopez split

NJ.com | Randy Miller: The Yankees have made their first cuts of spring training, and there was at least one surprise. Most of the cuts were young prospects who had little chance of making The Show this year, but one surprise non-roster invitee to be re-assigned was Adam Warren. The four-time Yankee pitched well in spring training, but the Yankees couldn’t give him a spot in the bullpen when they have so many other options currently on the 40-man roster. Warren will stick around in the minors, but here’s to hoping he gets to come back to the Bronx at least once this summer.

MLB.com | Bryan Hoch: There’s plenty of hype among Yankees fans when Jameson Taillon takes the mound, and with good reason. He has yet to allow a run this spring, and has said all the right things about his excitement to be a Yankee and his interest in analytics. Also in yesterday’s game, Jay Bruce continued his strong push for a roster spot with a 1-for-2 day on Friday, including a walk. At this point, Jay and Jameson are the Yankees’ biggest stars of camp.

Sports Illustrated | Max Goodman: Brett Gardner may have to try some new things to earn playing time as the Yankees’ fourth outfielder, and that includes learning a new position. Gardner played in right field yesterday, a position he only played once before in the bigs. There is still a learning curve for the former Gold Glover, but it’s good for the team that he is willing to help in any way (and perhaps bad for the likes of Mike Tauchman).

Complex | Gavin Evans: Longtime Yankee Alex Rodriguez is a bachelor again. After dating singer and actress Jennifer Lopez for almost four years, “J-Rod” is reportedly no more. Rodriguez and Lopez were engaged in March 2019, but postponed their wedding twice. Now, it appears that one of Hollywood’s favorite power couples is simply a footnote in history. Of course, Rodriguez called “Jenny from the block” his “Dream Date” in 1998:
