Good morning folks, we’re flying through another week already. Soon enough it’ll be Opening Day and this Yankees squad will get to test their mettle in a full season again. Until then though, it’d be great if the injury bug that has plagued this roster for the past three seasons could get designated for assignment. Zack Britton is the latest Yankee to go down, and the team will be missing his arm in the bullpen for a couple of months.
Naturally, with a couple of pitchers out of the conversation for now, the discourse for the day centers on pitching. Andrés has a pair of pieces for you on that, first discussing Deivi García’s importance to the innings puzzle this year and then later breaking down how it will be next to impossible for any one reliever to replace Britton while he’s out. Matt provides a season preview on Michael King, Joe takes us back to the day Roger Clemens and the US rolled through the World Baseball Classic, and Andrew sits down for an interview with ESPN’s Yankees beat reporter Marly Rivera.
Oh yeah, and on top of that, there’s still spring training action to cover. Peter has you covered there, as the Yanks will head back to Tampa to take on the Pirates. This one’s a night game, and it’s even on television. That string of words would be redundant if it were a month later, but c’est la vie.
