Start off your Friday with an open thread.

We’ve nearly made it to the weekend folks — and a super one, at that. Every week completed brings us a little closer to baseball, and it should be a season to follow day by day for sure. I’m even getting excited for some spring training recaps, which is how you know that the offseason has dragged on too long.

Today I’ll be leading off as I answer your questions in this week’s mailbag. Afterwards, Tom looks into the relationship that Gerrit Cole and Jameson Taillon forged back in Pittsburgh and how it will help them in New York, while Andrés profiles Brandon Workman as a potential free agent target. Finally, Matt pays tribute to the “Nearly Men” who were a part of the Yankees’ first-ever pennant but weren’t around for the eventual first championship.

Fun Questions

1. If you could be a MLB pitcher, would you rather be a breakout ace who flames out hard after a few years or a steady bullpen pitcher for over a decade?

2. Will we see any final signings/trades before camp opens up?
