We get our first look at the 2021 Yankees this afternoon, as Grapefruit League baseball takes place at George Steinbrenner Field in Tampa, FL. The Yankees will be squaring off against the division rival Toronto Blue Jays in the first pre-arranged seven-inning exhibition game we’ve ever seen.
The Blue Jays spent a whole lot of money over the winter, bringing in new center fielder George Springer and a host of pitching. We may not see Springer today, but the team’s other big free agent signing, Marcus Semien is in the starting lineup. A young, powerful lineup will give pitchers trouble, and in today’s matchup, we’ll get to see a few of those talented hitters.
For the Yankees, we get a host of regulars in the lineup, including DJ LeMahieu, Aaron Judge and Gleyber Torres. Michael King will be the first pitcher on the mound, with both Gerrit Cole and Jameson Taillon scheduled to go tomorrow.
