It is with a heavy heart that I must announce that Monday is at it again. Thankfully, it’s at least a Monday with some semblance of organized Yankees baseball activity, unlike the one last week. Position players have now officially all reported to camp, joining the pitchers and catchers.
Today will be fun on Pinstripe Alley, as we kick off our 2021 season preview series. I’ll get us started with a brief intro post where all the articles will be organized, and Cooper will follow with a closer look at the embattled Miguel Andújar. Later on, Kunj will write about why MLB needs more players as forthright as Zack Britton, and Ryan will take your mailbag questions.
Fun Questions
- Would you have traded Andújar over the course of the offseason, no matter how low the return might have been?
- This past weekend was the 29th anniversary (oof) of the famous “Homer at the Bat” episode of The Simpsons, which featured nine All-Star-caliber players of the era appearing as ringers for Mr. Burns’s softball team:
C - Mike Scioscia
1B - Don Mattingly
2B - Steve Sax
3B - Wade Boggs
SS - Ozzie Smith
LF - Darryl Strawberry
CF - Ken Griffey Jr.
RF - José Canseco
P - Roger Clemens
If you had to construct a team of players from today’s era to make similar guest appearances, who would they be? Remember, this doesn’t necessarily have to be the best group of players — just one that would be very good while also entertaining.
