It’s an exciting week in baseball. Well, it’s exciting at least in theory. Pitchers and catchers reporting is more symbolic than anything, marking the official start of spring training, but truly interesting things won’t really get underway until games start to kick off. Regardless, it’s nice to know that some ballplayers are arriving somewhere warm right now to get their stretching in.
On the site today, I’ll have a rumination on the state of the Yankees’ farm system, which looks pretty solid to my eye, but is the subject of some split opinion in the public scouting sphere. Also, Cooper will continue his preseason looks at the AL East by position, this time with the division’s first basemen, while Andres will give us a look around the American League’s starting rotations.
Fun Questions
- What’s the most important spring training storyline in Yankees camp? Fifth starter competition? The health of Corey Kluber and Jameson Taillon? Gleyber Torres’ and Gary Sánchez’s defense?
- How much exhibition baseball do you plan to watch this March?
