At long last, baseball — or at least, baseball activities — are right in front of us. Pitchers and catchers will report to camp this week, beginning the first phase of the 2021 Yankees season. Some of the regular position players will almost assuredly arrive around the same time as well, and some have spent their winter down south in preparation for this time, so expect plenty of grainy video and awkward long-distance photos of the team assembling on the field for the first time this year.
This is a time for optimism, for hope as thirty teams enter with at least a chance of making it all the way. Realistically, several of those teams won’t even be in contention on Opening Day and others will fall out soon after, but for the moment everyone can look ahead to the short-term future of their club. What can this new-look Yankees squad accomplish now that they’ve returned to a 162-game season? Who will take the lead production-wise for the charge into the postseason? There’s so much to ponder, so if you have a question of your own be sure to send it in for a chance to be featured in this week’s mailbag.
Answers will run on Friday morning. All questions received by the night of February 18th will be considered. You can leave your submissions in the comment section below or by e-mail to pinstripealleyblog [at] gmail [dot] com.
