Hello folks, hope you’re having a fine Thursday morning. We’re getting closer and closer to the opening of camp — and for the first time in a long time, it may be a camp without anyone on the roster that has won a World Series with the Yankees. It’s odd to think about after having Gardner, and previously CC Sabathia, around the young core as they came into the league, but there’s a strong possibility that the brunt of leadership will fall squarely on this generation of Bombers now. It’s exciting, and a little bittersweet at the same time.
We’ll have to wait and see if that will come to be, or whether Gardner winds up crossing the gap between him and the front office currently. What we have right now, however, is some more content looking ahead to the season. Jake begins the day by opining on the Yankees’ offseason choices relative to the Dodgers, and Peter follows up by examining why the Yankees may be the most prepared for a deadened baseball. Andrés looks into Tony Watson as a finishing touch to the bullpen, and Cooper will wrap things up by sorting through the division’s second basemen.
1. Who do you see as the leader of the Yankees from the outside looking in?
2. If the Yankees needed a stolen base, who from the current roster would you want attempting to swipe the bag?
