Happy Friday, everyone — it’s the first of a long offseason. While I’m sure that a good deal of you tuned baseball out the moment that the Yankees were eliminated, it’s the first time since spring that the general baseball fan has been able to live a Friday without checking scores on the phone. Now, we just have everything else on those damn things to distract us on Friday night!
For example, here’s a distracting question: Has Brett Gardner played his last game in New York after declining his player option? Maybe! Again: it’s a long offseason ahead. But let us know your thoughts after reading the question prompt.
Today on the site, Peter will run through the Yankees’ contract options for 2022, Jake will consider the positive developments of the 2021 season, and Andrés will evaluate Chad Green’s 2021 campaign. Later on, Matt will look back on the four forgotten players traded for Joe DiMaggio, and Ryan will answer your mailbag questions.
Fun Questions:
1. Will the Yankees and Brett Gardner come to terms on a new contract for 2022, or is this it for Gardy?
2. What’s the first thing you unpack after completing a move?
