MLB.com | Will Leitch: Either from themselves or from their fans, the Yankees have championship expectations year in and year out. While they have far from the longest championship drought, those expectations mean that the Yankees are one of the teams in most need of another World Series title.

MLB Trade Rumors | Mark Polishuk: Among the several tidbits included in this piece is a report that the Mets attempted to interview Yankees assistant general manager Jean Afterman for their front office vacancy, but she turned them down. Afterman is by all accounts very happy in the Yankees’ organization and not looking to go anywhere.

Not shockingly considering their recent years, the Dodgers lead the list of favorites according to one sports book, while the Yankees come in with the fifth-best odds.

Also, in case you missed it, Brett Gardner declined his player option, and the Yankees declined their club option, making the veteran outfielder a free agent. The same happened for reliever Darren O’Day:
