NJ.com | Mike Rosenstein: The Yankees need a shortstop and there are many available options for them in the upcoming free agent class. However, according to reports, the Yanks have “soured” on their interest in Trevor Story. This would narrow down their list of the other options that include Corey Seager, Carlos Correa, Marcus Semien, and Javier Báez.

Baseball America | Josh Norris: BA has released its top 10 prospects for the Yankees for 2022 and its evaluations of the “bests” in the system (for example, Oswald Peraza is their fastest baserunner and top defensive infielder). You’ll see names like Anthony Volpe and Jasson Dominguez on the list, but you won’t see Clarke Schmidt’s name. See who else rounded out the list if you have a subscription.

NY Daily News | Kristie Ackert: After seeing how he’s performed in the postseason and World Series, the Yankees should talk to pending free agent Freddie Freeman this offseason, if he’s willing to leave Atlanta. A veteran lefty bat who plays an excellent first base would be an upgrade for New York, considering the in-house options. We know the Yankees shopped Luke Voit at the Trade Deadline in July and Freeman would be a better fit than DJ LeMahieu. Of course, the Yankees also appear likely to be in contact for a reunion with Anthony Rizzo.
