You’d be forgiven if you checked out of the league championships, with a lack obvious reasons to root for any of the remaining teams, from the perspective of a Yankee fan, or even a fan writ-large. If you stayed plugged in, though, you were treated to a pretty thrilling set of games last night. The Dodgers pulled off a shocker to get back in the NLCS, and the Astros surged ahead late to even things up in the ALCS.
There’s another championship doubleheader ahead tonight. On the site, John continues our look back at the 2021 season by reviewing the finest defensive plays the Yankees made this year, and also... the worst defensive plays of the 2021 season. Plus, Erica breaks down how the Yankees’ public statements about Gleyber Torres’ defensive abilities have evolved over time, and Erin examines how the Aaron Boone-type of manager is falling out of style across MLB.
Fun Questions:
1. After Brian Cashman’s comments yesterday, do you expect the Yankees to sign a star shortstop, or some kind of stopgap at the position?
2. Who’s the favorite to you in the NLCS at this point?
