Happy Friday. It’s been, uh, a week. (Only 51 to go until 2022, I suppose.) Yesterday at least featured some real baseball news to potentially distract, as the Mets made a blockbuster trade for Francisco Lindor and Carlos Carrasco while the Yankees formalized the additions of Greg Allen and Jhoulys Chacín. Same thing, right?
Later today, Ryan P. will answer your mailbag questions, Tom will talk about how the Lindor trade affects the Yankees’ pursuit of DJ LeMahieu, Andrés considers a reunion with a very different old friend (reliever Justin Wilson), and Matt does a deep dive through Baseball Reference’s championship win probability added stat on the most impactful plays in Yankees regular season history.
- Does the apparent evidence of ball-doctoring by Gerrit Cole change your opinion of him at all? Or do you think it’s much ado about nothing?
- Given the package the Mets gave up for Lindor and Carrasco, would you have wanted the Yankees to trade for them instead of possibly re-signing LeMahieu?
