Yankees Social Media Spotlight: Reactions to the addition of Taillon and Tanaka’s departure

Taillion joins, Tanaka leaves. See how the Yankees reacted on social media.

SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game

We have kept you posted on what the Yankees have been up to on social media ever since baseball shut down back in March. Although the baseball season is over (or not yet begun?), we’ll still provide weekly updates on what your favorite Yankees do when they’re not on the diamond!

Cole and Taillon react to his move to New York

The Yankees traded for some rotation reinforcement this past week, as they brought in Jameson Taillon to bolster the rotation. He hasn’t pitched in the majors since 2019 due to Tommy John surgery, but he should certainly be an upgrade to the team’s subpar starting rotation. He and Gerrit Cole used to be teammates in Pittsburgh with the Pirates, but will get the opportunity to finish some unfinished business together in the Bronx.

Taillon went to work right away after being dealt to the Yankees. He even posted some clips of his first bullpen as a Yankee. Taillon definitely seems pretty excited to be a member of the Yanks!

Yankees react to Tanaka’s departure

After seven seasons in New York, longtime Yankee —and fan favorite— Masahiro Tanaka has left Major League Baseball to play in his home country of Japan. It was an awesome seven years for Tanaka as he started 173 games for the Yanks with a career 3.74 ERA and 991 strikeouts. Tanaka will most certainly be missed by the fans, and as you can see below, he’ll be missed by his teammates as well.

Tanaka posts his introductory press conference

The former Yankee was reintroduced with the Rakuten Golden Eagles on Saturday, the same team he last played with in Japan. Tanaka didn’t rule out a return to Major League Baseball in the future, but for now, he’s playing for the Golden Eagles in 2021. From Yankees fans everywhere, thank you for everything you’ve accomplished in pinstripes, Masahiro. We’ll miss you in the Bronx!
