CBS Sports | Dayn Perry: If the Yankees want to re-sign DJ LeMahieu, then they might want to get a move on because the great white shark that is the “New Yankees” could be circling their 2019-20 MVP. Since longtime third baseman Justin Turner is also a free agent, the Dodgers continue to maintain an interest in LeMahieu. The man can play all around the infield, and would it really be a shock to see the Dodgers continue to add to their juggernaut? They weren’t afraid to deal for Mookie Betts prior to 2020, so I’m not going to be the one to say that there’s no possible scenario in which they pluck LeMahieu off the market.
NY Post | Ken Davidoff: Gary Sánchez knows that many Yankees fans weren’t happy about his 2020, but he also knows that he still has plenty of supporters who believe that he has the talent to rebound in 2021. He took to Instagram to thank them for their faith and vow a comeback, stating “Thank you to all that supported me. I will prove you right. #iamstillgary.”
Say what you will — the man still has confidence, and that will play a big role in any return to form. And he is indeed #stillgary.
MLB.com | Alyson Footer: For all the uncertainty about LeMahieu, Sánchez, the 2021 rotation, and other plights, the Yankees still have a formidable enough club to be ranked third overall in MLB.com’s first power rankings of the new year. Blame the rest of MLB beyond the Dodgers and Padres, I suppose. For what it’s worth, Footer echoes the concerns about the starting rotation beyond Gerrit Cole. Because... well yeah.
