New York Yankees @ New York Mets: J.A. Happ vs. Robert Gsellman

The Subway Series wraps up today in Queens

After a series with the Rays we’d all like to forget, the Yankees travel across town today to finish the season series with the New York Mets. Today will be a special, if melancholy, meeting between the teams, as Mets legend Tom Seaver passed away yesterday at the age of 75, and you can expect both teams to honor the Hall of Famer as the game progresses.

On the field, J.A. Happ will get a chance to continue his hot streak, looking for his third straight strong start. His last came against these same Mets last week, pitching 7.1 innings of shutout ball, surrendering no walks and just three hits. Happ has been vocal about how upset he is with his usage this year, but continuing to put up good starts will force the Yankees hand, and he can keep that going today.

Robert Gsellman gets the ball for the Mets, who opposed Happ in that start on August 29. As he continues to transition into a starting role, we will see how long a leash the team has for him, after he pitched just four innings last week, despite striking out a batter per inning with no walks.

First pitch is scheduled for 4:10 PM EDT. You can watch on YES, stream on MLB.tv, or listen to the game on WFAN/WADO.
