MLB: Kansas City Royals at Cleveland Indians Ken Blaze-USA TODAY Sports

After a tumultuous 2020 season, the Yankees have a clean slate: everyone enters the playoffs with a 0-0 record. The Bombers begin their October Journey (I know, I know, it’s still September) at Progressive Field in Cleveland, for a best two out of three series against the Indians.

Tonight’s pitching matchup stands out as a duel for the ages, with Gerrit Cole squaring off against Shane Bieber. This is exactly the situation the Yanks had in mind when they inked Cole to a nine-year, $324 million deal back in December.

Should the Yankees pick up a W tonight, they will have two chances to put away Cleveland and advance to the ALDS bubble in California. In the immortal words of Mariano Duncan, “We play today. We win today. Das it.”
