New York Yankees vs. Toronto Blue Jays: Jordan Montgomery vs. Hyun-jin Ryu

Can the Yankees pick up a split in Buffalo?

The Yankees’ two 2020 series at the Blue Jays’ temporary home of Buffalo haven’t been super fun. A win tonight would get them a respectable 3-4 record at Sahlen Park, but all four losses so far have come in some especially annoying way. However, they wrap things up in Buffalo tonight, and have a chance to end things on a high note.

To try and get the win, they’ll send Jordan Montgomery to the hill. Montgomery’s last couple starts haven’t been ideal, including allowing two runs in 3.1 innings in this stadium back on September 7th. (Although, it should be noted that he was far from the Yankees’ biggest issue in that game.)

Here’s the rest of the lineup that the Yankees will be running out:

Hyun-jin Ryu will go for the Blue Jays. He was Montgomery’s opposite number back on that September 7th game, and the Yankees tagged him for five runs in five innings, including three home runs. In general, the Yankees have been have been good against him, including knocking him out in the fifth inning of a game last year when he was in the midst of a Cy Young contending season. Even with the Yankees having his number recently, he is still a very good pitcher.

Here’s who Toronto will run out behind him:
