Man, did the Yankees need the comeback they got in the first half of today’s doubleheader. Back-to-back walk-off wins have given the Yankees life in this series and in general, perhaps their season. They still have at least seven more innings to play today, however, as they look to wrap up another win on the back of a rookie pitcher making his MLB debut.

Deivi Garcia has consistently been one of the top two or three prospects in the Yankees organization for over a year now, and he’s finally getting his chance to face major-league bats. Garcia flew through the organization last season and had a brief appearance in summer camp, but his name wasn’t called when camp broke. He’ll be on the mound looking to sweep the doubleheader, and get the Yankees back to winning series.

Seth Lugo will go for the other New York team, and he’s been solid for the Mets this year. Lugo started out in the bullpen, but a rush of injuries to the Mets rotation has given him a chance to start. He didn’t last long against Atlanta on Tuesday, pitching only three innings as the team stretches him out, but he was effective. Lugo didn’t allow a baserunner and struck out five. We’ll see if the Yankees present a bigger challenge to him.
