Many Yankees came together this week to speak out.

Baseball is finally back! We have kept you up to date with what the Yankees have been up to on social media ever since baseball shutdown back in March. Although the season is underway, we’ll still provide weekly updates on what your favorite Yankees do when they’re not on the diamond!

Yankees United

This week in sports has been anything but normal. It all started when the Milwaukee Bucks protested their playoff game to raise awareness for racial injustice in the United States. That resulted in a domino effect as teams from all different sports were postponing practices and games as well. While the Yankees were not one of the many who stopped play, many of the players and even coaches took to social media to support the movement. Some of which included Giancarlo Stanton, Aaron Boone and Aaron Hicks among many others who posted the statement from the Players Alliance, as well as Tyler Wade who posted a quote from Dwayne Wade.

Tribute to Jackie Robinson

Speaking of The Players Alliance, they put together a really cool video with a bunch of current and former players thanking Jackie Robinson for all he did for the game of baseball and for them. The current Yankees in the video are Aaron Hicks and Giancarlo Stanton, but a few old friends made an appearance too like Curtis Granderson, Cameron Maybin, CC Sabathia and Andrew McCutchen.

Masahiro Tanaka

Whenever you need a smile on your face, you can count on Masa. This tweet is obviously not in English, but thankfully, Twitter has a translate button. It’s not a perfect translation, but here’s what it came up with: “The ball he throws is terrible. I played catch with him for the first time during this time, but I was scared...”

Breaking it down a bit, I’m assuming “terrible” should be translated to “nasty.” So Tanaka had a catch with Cole for the first time and he was throwing so hard it was scary. Be nice to our Masa, Gerrit.

That’s all the updates we have for you this week. Check back next week to see more of what the Yankees are doing during their free time!
