The 2020 Yankees are lit, y’all. The Bombers just swept the Red Sox in a four-game series, and they notched their sixth win in a row. Remember when everyone proclaimed the season over at The Trop? Good times, good times.
I’ll have a full recap up in a little while. In the meantime, here are some highlights:
Winner of the Game
Luke Voit, my main man, the best hitting first baseman in the American League, he ushered in the Yankees’ path of destruction against the Red Sox’ pitching staff. Voit hit two homers, both demolished, and both featured his patented Luke Hop in the batter’s box. I still can’t believe that A) he’s so good, and B) so under-appreciated. This time last year, people wondered if the Cardinals actually won the trade. Get outta here.
Honorable Mention: Jordan Montgomery, Thairo Estrada
Loser of the Game
The Yankees had a rough time on the defensive side of the game, with Gleyber Torres making two errors. Miguel Andújar also got turned around on an Alex Verdugo fly ball that went for a ground-rule double. Nothing too big, no harm done, but against a non-Boston team, those could have been costly.
