Dear Mr. Frazier

Dear Red Thunder,

In 2016 the Yankees were sellers for the first time in my fandom. We traded prized reliever Andrew Miller and you were the future piece that I was most excited about getting back. Your legendary bat speed was as red hot as your hair. The comps were crazy. "Same tools as Mike Trout has" scouts said. Justus Sheffield was nice but you were the main focus. A future starting center fielder with a middle of the order bat. That was the hope.

The first time I saw you play I was impressed. That bat speed sizzled as advertised. The confidence exuded everywhere. I was exited. Then there were questions about your maturity, mostly unwarranted. But depth was added. Concussions lead to depth perception and fielding issues. People wrote you off. "Trade him now while he has any value left!". How could they? Judge has worked out as well as one could have hoped. Gleyber too! Gary has shown the promise we hoped for. Miggy went runner up as ROY. You were sure to be the next to explode!

Well Mr. Frazier, some years have passed since when we first met. We are still waiting on that promise. Your bat speed is still lightening fast and questions about your defense still exist. So what to do with you? You deserve to be a major league starting outfielder. Even with the defensive woes, you are still worthy. But a lot has happened since we traded for you. There is a certain Judge named Aaron patrolling right field. We also acquired a man that you might have heard of named Giancarlo Stanton. Hicks has proven himself as a worthy center fielder. Brett Gardner found another gear last year and Michael T is now our backup outfielder. No not Trout, I mean Tauchman. Oh and Gio Urshela (the light hitting infielder you played minor league ball with on the Indians) found some pop and has pushed Andujar to the outfield. So for you to get MLB at bats with the Yankees in this short season things need to go wrong for the team. You would need injuries to occur. That or Andujar would have to falter in left. Gardner would have to show that last season was the grand finale. Stanton would have to prove he can no longer play left field and Tauchman would have to show he was struck by luck last year and have his bat regress badly.

So with that being said, it is with a heavy heart that I inform you, it is time to part ways. But do not be sad. You are a southern boy, a Georgia boy. Atlanta seems like a great fit for you. They also have a good young team. They could use another outfield bat for the playoff push and they have plenty of young promising arms to spare. The Braves love Yankees players so I can see this working out for all three sides. Atlanta gets another outfield bat. You get to go home and slug home runs in front of your home town crowd (or at least fake crowd noise). And the Yankees could get a useful arm for 2020 and beyond. Someone like Bryse Wilson or Kyle Wright, maybe even Ian Anderson, or Touki Toussaint. You will be missed but it is time to part ways as friends before you become just another player who gets the dreaded prospect fatigue and get labeled as a "AAAA Player".

Sincerely Yours,

A Concerned Fan
