Opening Day truly is here.

Well, we’ve arrived. Opening Day, at last, is here. Only two games will be played tonight, but one of them involves the Yankees, as they’ll travel to the nation’s capital to take on the defending champion Nationals. Gerrit Cole vs. Max Scherzer, a pitching matchup that seemed like a pipe dream but a month ago, will actually come to fruition at 7 pm EST.

Of course, that matchup seemed like a mirage last month in no small part because the United States was dealing with a brutal and worsening pandemic, a pandemic that has not abated in the interim. It forces us to ask whether the game should be happening, even as we enjoy the magnificent on-field exploits.

Fun Questions

  1. So what’s it gonna be? Make a win total prediction for the Yankees.
  2. What’s Gerrit Cole’s first statline with the Yankees going to look like?
