It’s Day Two of the 2020 MLB Draft, and the Yankees have made the first of two selections that they have remaining. Trevor Hauver gets the call this time, heading to New York with the 99th overall pick. Hauver was an outfielder during his time at Arizona State, but interestingly he was announced as a second baseman at the draft.
If you’re wondering whether Hauver has spent any time at his new position, the answer is: not much. Hauver played there twice in the Cape Cod league back in 2018, and played a single game for the Sun Devils in 2019. Still, Hauver has been scouted as a bat-first player, and Baseball America noted that some believe he can be an average defender at third, so perhaps a move to second isn’t far off.
You can check out our full write up on the pick here. Right now, however, we’d like to know what you think of the selection. Did the Yankees make the right choice, or was there a better player available? Vote in our poll below, and let us know what you think of Hauver in the comment section.
