Yankees spreading out their international signing money; Cole and Ottavino playing backyard baseball; Torres adjusting at shortstop

Dominguez has already become one of the organization’s top prospects, but this year they’re planning on spreading out the money pool more. Dominican shortstop Hans Montero is the big name that they’re expected to sign, and could fit in as another athletic middle of the field player.

NY Post | Mollie Walker: Apparently, Gerrit Cole and Adam Ottavino are still working on their teamwork. The two posted a video on Instagram showcasing the pair working out in their backyard. Hopefully, they’re still maintaining six feet of distance.

NY Daily News | Kristie Ackert: Gleyber Torres has an easier task taking over at shortstop than Didi Gregorius had when he replaced Derek Jeter after the 2014 season. Still, Torres has an uphill climb to make defensively fitting in at the toughest role across the diamond. Torres was better defensively at shortstop than he was at second base statistically, but he was still below average overall and didn’t get a hot start in spring training.
