Yankees Rewatch: Gio Urshela stuns the Rays

Welcome to Yankees Rewatch, a new series at Pinstripe Alley! While we wait for the 2020 season to start, we’ll pull up some of our favorite games to enjoy together. We can chat about what we forgot, what would become important later in the season, or just catch up with old friends from the game threads.

Tonight, we flip the calendars back a few months to May 17, 2019. At 26-16, the Yankees trailed the Rays in the AL East by half a game. The upcoming three-game series with Tampa Bay would be critical in the early race for the division, especially with the Bombers running out the Next-Man-Up squad.

This back-and-forth contest had us on the edge of our seats. It was a nail-biter, and a fun one to kick this series off. I hope to see you all later tonight!
