Luke Voit feeling good; Offseason a perfect storm for Yankees; Team signs two relievers

MLB: Tampa Bay Rays at New York Yankees-Game 2 Brad Penner-USA TODAY Sports

SNY | Nick Wojton: Luke Voit’s season got derailed late last year by a core injury, but according to Voit, he’s in the best shape of his life. Voit says he has never felt better after October core surgery corrected the problem, and that’s an encouraging development for Yankees fans who are looking forward to seeing more home run bunny hops from the slugging first baseman.

New York Post | Joel Sherman: Not only did the Yankees win the offseason internally by signing Gerrit Cole to fill a huge void, but a lot of external losses around the MLB seem to have broken the Yankees’ way. Sherman points out that the Astros and Red Sox have gotten weaker, and some young teams aren’t ready to completely challenge the Yankees yet. It’s all shaping up for the Yankees’ best chance at a championship yet this window.

MLB Trade Rumors | Steve Adams: The Yankees haven’t done much to their bullpen this offseason, even losing a key player in Dellin Betances, but a couple of spring training invitees might change that. The team signed Dan Otero and David Hale to minor league deals, which at worst bolsters the team’s depth and at best provides two more options for the back of the bullpen.
