New York Daily News | Kristie Ackert: The dominant story of the offseason has of course been the Astros’ sign stealing scandal, and now playoff wizard Masahiro Tanaka has weighed in. The Yankee right-hander, speaking after reporting to the Yankees’ Tampa complex early, said he felt cheated after the ALCS loss to the Astros in 2017. Fortunately, Tanaka also reassured the media his elbow was at 100%, so he’ll get his shot to get back at Houston this year.
New York Post | Dan Martin: I’m not sure if you’ve heard of prospect Jasson Dominguez, but he’s a guy you might want to keep an eye on. Understatements aside, the budding superstar prospect impressed Yankee evaluators last week, and with Dominican spring training already underway, his skills have already been described as “silly...stupid...crazy”. I’m sad we’ll have to wait a couple years before seeing the Martian go yard in the Bronx.
Forbes | Larry Fleisher: By this time tomorrow, pitchers and catchers will have reported to Tampa, and spring training will have officially arrived. It’s never too early to begin the narratives that will drive the 2020 season, and with the Yankees at worst co-favorites in the AL, there are plenty to pick from.
NJ.com | Pete Caldera: From the stories that will surround spring training to the actual dates to circle on your calendar. This spring, look forward to the first time the Yankees face the Mookie Betts-less Red Sox, albeit in Grapefruit League action, and one of my favorite events of the year, the now-annual exhibition set in Montreal against the Blue Jays.
