NJ.com | Randy Miller: Trevor Bauer’s market apparently isn’t progressing very well for the top pitcher available. Teams haven’t been very interested in whatever asking price Bauer and his agent have set, and the Yankees are reportedly one of the teams that isn’t in at the moment. Bauer is looking to cash in on a year where his spin rates drastically jumped up and his production followed, but it seems that front offices aren’t biting on him for top-tier money.
MLB.com | Bryan Hoch: The Yankees have had literally dozens of legendary players, and have retired 21 of their numbers in Monument Park — they even retired the No. 8 jersey twice. That’s a deep pool of players that definitively are the best to ever wear that number for the franchise, but there are plenty of others to account for and Hoch does his best to rank them all.
NY Post (Page Six) | Oli Coleman: This is a short but sweet one. J.D. Martinez was approached about his opt-out recently and was asked about the chances of jumping ship to the Yankees — something that several key Red Sox players have done over the past couple decades — and he reportedly had a funny quip about it. Martinez said that he’ll go to the Yankees “when they let me keep my beard,” adding his name to the list of notable athletes to take a shot at the organization’s archaic facial hair policy.
