Ask Pinstripe Alley

Good afternoon folks, we’re halfway through December. We’re still waiting for the shoe to drop with the Yankees’ offseason moves, but at least we’re starting to get an understanding of what’s going on. The team and DJ LeMahieu are roughly $25 million apart in negotiations, and he’s been their primary target all offseason. In other words, it’s not great right now.

That’s not to say that it’s an impossible bridge to gap, of course. If the Yankees remember that their bank account exists any time soon, they could get a deal done soon. This doesn’t bode well for the remainder of the offseason though. How serious will the team be about cutting costs for 2021? Will they be able to find improvements on their self-imposed budget? If you’ve got questions like this, or anything else on your mind, send it in for our weekly mailbag.

Answers will run on Friday morning. All questions received by the night of December 17 will be considered. You can leave your submissions in the comment section below or by e-mail to pinstripealleyblog [at] gmail [dot] com.
