We have kept you posted with what the Yankees have been up to on social media ever since baseball shut down back in March. Although the season is over for New York, we’ll still provide weekly updates on what your favorite Yankees do when they’re not on the diamond!
The youngsters show-off their stuff
The 21-year-old Deivi García is rocking blue hair and a red-hot fastball. Here’s a video from García’s Instagram that displays both! Also take a peek at his t-shirt, which is of himself. Pretty cool stuff from the rookie as he looks to get even better in his second year in the bigs.
García wasn’t the only rookie practicing his stuff this week. Clarke Schmidt, who appeared in three games for the Yankees in 2020, posted a video of his bullpen session recently, and he looks nasty! Take a look at the second pitch he throws in this video, it’s mesmerizing.
The bullpen on vacation
It’s always good to see some teammate bonding going on. Luis Cessa and Aroldis Chapman were on vacation together this past week in Mexico. Both pitchers had solid seasons in 2020. Chapman’s obviously didn’t end the way he hoped, but he still had a productive year. After a grueling 2020 season full of ups and downs — including both of these pitchers testing positive for COVID-19 during the season — this vacation seems like it was much needed.
Michael King jokes with Gleyber Torres
We talked about rookie pitchers earlier, so let’s talk about another one. The 25-year-old found a picture of himself in an old yearbook where he said he wanted to be the starting shortstop for the New York Yankees when he got older. I’m sure his younger self would still be proud that he’s “only” a pitcher and not the shortstop for the Yankees now.
Judge wishes Wade a happy birthday
November 23rd was Tyler Wade’s birthday, and Aaron Judge gave him a shoutout on Instagram. Wade, who just turned 26, has been one of the team’s best baserunners since joining the major league team in 2017.
